According to MassDOT engineers, the project to reconstruct Belmont Street/Trapelo Road is 80% complete. It is on budget, but is about 9 months behind schedule. Bring your questions and concerns about the project to a meeting on March 15 from 6:30 – 9:00 PM in the Third Floor Gallery in the Homer Building, 19 Moore Street, Belmont (across from Belmont Town Hall in Belmont Center).

Contract for Fresh Pond and Mount Auburn intersection awarded
The DCR has awarded a contract to develop an approach to improving the system of intersections around Mt. Auburn Street and Fresh Pond Parkway. The accepted proposal conveys a strong understanding of the problems around the intersection and the potential for change. It contemplates an early public meeting and we will make sure that this is publicized broadly when it is scheduled.

Longfellow Bridge construction impact.
Representative Livingstone and Senator Brownsberger have been getting a number of emails about bike travel on the redesigned Longfellow Bridge. Here are Mass DOT’s responses about both inbound and outbound bike travel on the bridge.
DCR Storm Management Plan
Every winter our office receives questions about snow removal on DCR properties. DCR and MassDOT share responsible for snow removal on DCR roadways, sidewalks and paths. DCR has passed along its Storm Management Plan, which details its snow removal policies including the priority order in which its properties are cleared of snow.
12/11/15 Bowker Overpass Construction Schedule Update
MassDOT has provided this updated construction schedule for the work that is currently underway on the Bowker Overpass. The work on the travel lanes has proceeded from west to east. (Note from Will: the phasing for this project is straightforward and, while the schedule has slid a few months, the basic plan has not changed.)
