The Senate passed two bills on April 25. One would allow for an “X” gender designation on state IDs, while the other, sponsored by Senator Brownsberger, includes several road safety measures.

Discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity by educational institutions
We are working on legislation to prohibit discrimination based on sexual-orientation or trans identity in higher education admissions.
Question 3 — Yes for Transgender Rights
A Yes vote on Question 3 on the November 6 ballot will approve the legislature’s vote in 2016 to extend full civil rights protections to transgender people.
Passing the Transgender Bill
The approach we have taken is right, simple and consistent with American fundamental values. It will, in a few years, become completely ordinary, as it should be.
Transgender Access to Public Accommodations
The legislature will consider this year legislation to complete the work we started a couple of years ago to provide full legal protection to transgender people. The main unfinished business is to prohibit discrimination in access to public accommodations. I view this legislation as simple and necessary and fully support it. I am a cosponsor and I have long been a supporter of this legislation.
