It would be helpful if your categories included working against poverty.
We don’t like to look at poverty in Massachusetts, but it is there. Here are some examples; With the Congress not extending unemployment benefits, many will be forced to use food banks, which report being drawn down seriously. In the Commonwealth
we allow 4000 teenagers to be homeless–to say nothing of men, women, and children
in the tens of thousands. We are so callous in requiring that a person be actually on the streets before they can seek shelter. This requirement has led to rapes,
illness, and misery.
Some valuable legislation is out there, such as the House Bill 135 “An Act
Providing Housing and Support Services to Unaccompanied Homeless Youth.”
I’d be grateful for a topic category which fits this type of legislation. Thank you.
Thanks, Alice. Done. I’ve created the new category and moved this topic into it.
I appreciate the feedback you give me on many legislative issues related to poverty and I look forward to continuing to take important guidance from that feedback.
By the way, I hope you saw my series on inequality under The Economy.
