TO:                  Joint Committee on State Administration and Regulatory Oversight

FROM:            Senator William N. Brownsberger

RE:                  Senate Bill 1475, Resolve creating a special commission on school library services in the Commonwealth

DATE:            July 12, 2013

I am writing in favor of S1475, Resolve creating a special commission on school library services in the Commonwealth. The bill was heard before the Joint Committee on State Administration and Regulatory Oversight on July 10, 2013.

This bill will create a special commission to investigate the status of Massachusetts public school library programs. It will provide the legislature and the public with the information necessary to evaluate where the Commonwealth’s needs and successes lie with regard to our schools’ library services.

I urge the Committee to report this legislation favorably.
