Does Mass law permit first responders to give basic care to pets in fires, accidents and other emergencies? Could we follow Ohio’s lead (unless we already allow this)?

Interesting question.
We have passed legislation in this area — to make it easier to rescue animals from overheated vehicles, but we’ll look into the ideas in this Ohio bill.
The Executive Office of Public Safety tells me that there is no Massachusetts law either mandating or forbidding first responders from giving basic care to animals. Responders usually assess the situation and help the animals if it is safe to do so.
