The MAPC bikepath study has been released. The next step belongs to the Selectmen to determine what kind of process they would like to undertake before making decisions on the bikepath possibilities.

The Belmont Citizens Forum, in a recent pamphlet distributed to town residents, makes a case for more paths in general and for a particular path route. I appreciate the advocacy for paths in general, but it is important to recognize that the route is so far unsettled.

So I see the same Einsteins behind the very wide medians on Concord Avenue east of Fresh Pond is now at work west of it trying to turn it into another killing zone for bicyclists.  What are they thinking?  The curbstone now goes right up to the edge of the traffic lane, so now every …

I thought work was going to start  this spring on making a real trail out of the Alewife to Brighton Rd bike path? I biked on it today and it’s still the same dirt path it’s been.

While everyone is anxious to expand pathways to get people out of their cars, Friends of Alewife Reservation remains terrified of the impact the plan will have, without careful consideration of where the pathway is.   There has been so very little attention to the rare wildlife reserve that the pathway will transverse.
