Some Democratic senators oppose Baker’s early retirement plan
Senator Brownsberger was one of six senator interviewed by The Boston Globe regarding their concerns with Governor Baker’s Early Retirement Incentive Program. The Globe reports, “The senators, who range from conservative to liberal, said the pension-sweetening bill is fiscally irresponsible — creating additional pension costs for the state in future years — and they worry the plan could gut some state agencies to the point of hurting services.”
Battle over banning noncompete agreements brews on Beacon Hill
The Boston Globe reports on legislation filed by Senator Brownsberger and Representative Lori Ehrlich, “State lawmakers are reviving efforts to limit or ban contracts that restrict employees from working for competitors after a compromise failed last summer.”
MBTA posts 2013 annual report nearly year late
The Boston Globe reports, “The MBTA Retirement Fund posted its 2013 annual report on its website late Wednesday, nearly 12 months after the close of the year’s finances.” Senator Brownsberger has worked for greater transparency of the fund. Here is a link to the full Globe story.
T may eliminate 2 Green Line stops near BU
A new proposal from the MBTA could eliminate two of the four stops on the Boston University strip of the Green Line’s B branch.
The four stops — Boston University West, St. Paul Street, Pleasant Street, and Babcock Street — are squeezed into a stretch of less than a half-mile on Commonwealth Avenue. BU West and St. Paul Street are only one-tenth of a mile apart.
