Pan Flu and Civil Rights

Public health officials have long understood the potential dangers of a new flu virus and have for several years been advocating for a bill (House 108 in this session) that would strengthen our readiness for this emergency. This is a bill that I support and it takes on greater urgency given the emergence of swine flu.

Health care proxies — is there a need for stronger laws?

Ending outrageous bank overdraft charges

Responding to constituents who had complained about outrageous bank overcharges, I filed a bill earlier this year that would limit bank overcharges to one per day.

Opposing greyhound racing

I’ve been getting a lot of emails that read:

“Please do not repeal or delay the implementation of Question 3, the
ballot question that passed 56% to 44% in 12 of 14 counties and in 290 cities and towns.

Supporting the bottle bill — hearing on October 7

I’ve been getting a lot of emails lately that read as follows:

“Please support HB 3515, the updated Bottle Bill. It has been the most successful recycling program in the Commonwealth. Over 30 billion containers have been recycled since it became law in 1983.

Next Draft of Non-competition Legislation — Hearing on October 7

Representative Ehrlich and I are pleased to now publish a next draft for continued input. A hearing on the legislation will be held at 10:30AM on October 7 in Room A-2 in the state house.
