H2119 The Children and Firefighters Protection Act

Senator Brownsberger submitted the following testimony on H2119.

TO: COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC SAFETY AND HOMELAND SECURITY

FROM: SENATOR WILLIAM N. BROWNSBERGER

RE: H2119

DATE: JUNE 18, 2015

In am writing in support of H.2119 (The Children and Firefighters Protection Act) which will require manufacturers and retailers to phase out the use of flame retardants in children’s products and residential upholstered furniture.

These flame retardants are fairly ineffective in preventing injury during a fire, yet release toxic chemicals that can be harmful, especially to small children.

I hope the Committee will give H2119 a favorable report.
