  1. Much of the stone wall at the Chestnut Hill Reservation will be repaired this year:

•The BRA will contribute $118,425 ($29,620 in design fees, $88,805 in funds), and DCR will contribute $118,425 in matching funds for FY14. There will be a total of $207,230 available for construction.

•DCR plans to bid the southeastern half of the wall (the half which runs up Chestnut Hill Ave. from Beacon Street, and ends mid-way up the block). This portion of the wall has two faces to be restored: the side walk face, and the park face, across from the Riley pool and rink. This will enable DCR to complete one entire section of the wall.

•The remaining section of the wall, which run from mid-block on Chestnut Hill Ave to Commonwealth Ave will be included as an add alternate in the bid. This wall has one face and functions as a retaining wall for most of its length.

•The designer’s estimate for the entire wall repair (both sections, three faces) is $292,000 (not including any contingencies)

DCR recently put out an RFP for this project, I will provide a further update from DCR about the project status and timelines when I receive one.
