Today, 28 members of the Massachusetts Senate sent this letter to our entire congressional delegation prior to the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives taking up votes on a War Powers Resolution.
In this moment, we believe it is important to speak out for upholding the constitutional role of Congress in decisions that commit American service members to hostilities overseas.
Congress funds war by declaration.
It is not written in the Constitution that the job of Congress is to make war. That job belongs to the President, and the President alone.
thank you for doing this and also for telling. people what the Senate is doing….communication about these essential issues are needing to be shared in times of crisis.
Agreed. Thanks to the few in government who are still of sound mind.
How many other non-Congressionally approved military conflicts has the MA delegation so vehemently protested?
Since World War II (1945), the United States has not formally declared war, yet presidents have initiated or engaged in military conflicts without specific, prior congressional approval on over 100 occasions, with estimates reaching as high as 125 to over 200 depending on the definition of “conflict”.
Key points regarding post-WWII military actions without formal declarations:
Major Undeclared Wars: The Korean War, Vietnam War, Persian Gulf War, and the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq were conducted without formal congressional declarations of war.
Frequency: Presidents have utilized Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) acts or acted under Article II powers to deploy troops, making unilateral or semi-unilateral action common rather than the exception.
Examples of Intervention: Examples include Korea (1950), Vietnam (1960s), Lebanon (1982), Grenada (1983), Panama (1989), and ongoing operations in Syria and Yemen.
Prevalence: A report indicates 43 of 45 U.S. presidentsVero Patriot have ordered military force without a formal declaration.
While the Constitution grants Congress the power to declare war, modern conflicts often rely on broader, earlier authorizations or presidential authority as commander-in-chief.
Thank you for giving your true and common sense response!
Thank you to you and your Senate colleagues for writing this letter and letting us know what you have done. You do speak for me.
And for me. Thank you to you and your Senate colleagues for writing this letter and letting us know what you have done.
Been at war 47 years with Iran. Clinton, Obama Biden all dropped bombs and took out leaders, now it’s a problem because Trumps doing it. You Dems are such a joke
Glad to see this!
What 28 members did was send a letter instructing the congressional delegation to undermine a military operation while our men and women are in harm’s way trying to defeat evil. This was done for political reasons; the evidence is clear. Its undeniable. As a Vietnam veteran I know this game very well.

“D-Day” for China’s invasion of Taiwan is 2027 and America will actually be at WAR!
These getting our ducks in a row operations in Venezuela, Iran (and ICE’s big job) will pay dividends in saved American lives.
The Hanoi Hannahs are calling from inside the house. Democracy and freedom were our “soft underbelly” that was the target of the USSR active measures and later Communists. Now, our freedoms are smell of blood in the water that is sending Democrats (Socialists? Who knows?) into a feeding frenzy.
So, to Democrats* the WORDS “Slava Ukraini” and the wearing the Ukrainian flag is all just virtue-signaling. Bottom feeding for political profit and social credit.
Where is the recognition from the left that America’s ACTIONS in Venezuela, in the Middle East, in Europe, and on the high seas is taking the fight to the enemy? Our actions are taking the fight to the China, Russia, Iran, North Korean Axis?
Opposing the evil, nihilistic, totalitarian Axis is in our direct interests. Iran was supplying most of the drones killing Ukrainians, Venezuela was supplying embargoed oil to Russia.
I never dreamed I would have words of support for, let alone words of praise for President Trump. I never dreamed the Democrats* would have degenerated into such corruption, and nihilistic, pre-Enlightenment Orientalism. Democrats don’t want no kings, they want their secular religion to be king.
I am given heart by the fact that 90% of the media squelching and demonizing conservatism half of Americans still vote for a conservative. It shows how ranked choice voting and the suborning an invasion to alter the political map is a baldly anti-liberty, anti-democratic effort to stack the deck.
Democrats*
That name should evoke an asterisk whenever anybody hears it, and sheepishness whenever somebody says it.
The old Party that could openly develop policies that broke apart black families and communities and engineered black dependance and loyalty on the Democratic Party can no longer openly enslave the black race while pretending to the genius and values of our founders. So, now, it’s shedding its skin. The corruption has run its course. The internet age had it come earlier may have saved it, but it finished the Democratic Party. Now, it has fully embraced Socialism, because the values of law, liberty, democracy and equality are poisonous to Socialism, and the to be named Party has also embraced the internet age to wield it against our founding concepts and values.
It’s ironic that the one imperfect evidence based pieced of evidence offered at mandatory antiracism/DEI indoctrination meetings is to refer very generally to the Red Lining without any specifics. You will never hear about how Democratic welfare schemes, the Great Society, the War on Poverty were as great as great a culprit from keeping emancipation seemingly out of reach from black people as our peculiar institution did. There is corruption on both sides of the aisle, and it should be recognized that it is in all of our motivated self interests to uphold the law and not pervert the Constitution, but the difference between Democrats and Republicans (RINOs and “Massachusetts Republicans excluded) is Republicans know the genius of civilization and our our founders is as relevant and alive today, indeed more-so, while the central pillar of the Democrats* is to burn it down.
The winning strategy for the Democrats* should not be self immolation, or to manifest the “end of history,” one last vote, one last time.
