You were quoted in a recent Globe article about not being in favor of the permanent sales tax holiday included in the grand bargain. Glad to hear you’re maintaining your long-help skepticism/opposition. You also said you wouldn’t let that prevent you from voting for the grand bargain as a whole. Fair enough. Still, if there’s a chance to eliminate the sales tax holiday and get the government out of telling me which weekend to switch my large purchases to, that would be very good.

Honestly, yes, it is too late. It was part of the agreement through which the retail industry dropped their ballot question which would have reduced the sales tax a full point.
