I am writing in support of S1112, An Act relative to the establishment of independent forensic sciences laboratories and the oversight and accreditation of such laboratories.
This legislation provides for an independent body to audit and have oversight of forensic laboratories. It further provides that all forensic laboratories be independent and not subject to any influence by law enforcement, the prosecution, or defense.
While I understand that some changes will be suggested, I hope that the Committee will report favorably on legislation that meets the goals of S1112.
