Boston West Fair Skies (BWFS) – No Fly Day Press Release
Boston West Fair Skies (33L RNAV affected towns) and BOS Fair Skies (Milton) are partners in the national No Fly Day campaign.
The Boston Protest will take place on Saturday, October 24th 2015 from 10:00 A.M to noon in front of the Massachusetts State House, 24 Beacon Street, Boston, MA 01233.
No Fly Day is a national campaign aimed at bringing awareness to the changes made in air traffic by the FAA’s NextGen program which resulted in an unfair burden of noise to residential neighborhoods. People living under the new RNAV paths are experiencing unprecedented noise levels and direct health consequences: negative outcomes of pregnancies, heart palpitations, anxiety, insomnia, severe negative impact on patients recovering from surgery due to lack of rest and increased anxiety created by the constant roaring of aircraft engines over their homes.
The No Fly Day protests are pressing for immediate action from the FAA towards the noise issues created by NextGen.
Protesters are demanding from the FAA to:
• Immediately address noise levels in impacted communities
• Adopt stricter noise standards and conduct full Environmental Impact Reviews
• Adopt a timely and transparent community engagement process
The noise issue related to NextGen is a nationally acknowledged problem that is starting to be acknowledged and addressed by Congress and by the local governments.
“Americans should not accept unbearable levels of jet noise as a byproduct of a $60+ billion taxpayers funded ‘modernization’ effort” – Kevin Terrell, MSP Fair Skies.
