Forum on the Media

What is the Role of Media in Our Democracy?

Is the media contributing to the division between the left and the right? How will Donald Trump’s Presidency affect news coverage? How (or should) the media respond to accusations that they are distributing “fake” news? Does the desire to appear neutral create an environment where false narratives thrive?

Progressive Watertown will host a discussion between four journalists and the public.

David King, Senior Lecturer in Public Policy at Harvard’s Kennedy School, will moderate the forum.

Participating journalists are:

  • Bruce Gellerman, WBUR reporter and commentator
  • Joshua Miller, political reporter for The Boston Globe?
  • Michele McPhee, commentator and reporter, the Boston Herald and WABC-TV
  • Nick Osborne, Digital Producer for The Boston Globe

Audience members will be encouraged to ask questions and interact with the panel’s participants.

Sunday, April 2, 2017; 2:00-4:00 p.m. Watertown Free Public Library, Watertown Savings Bank Room 123 Main Street
