As previously noted, the state Division of Capital Asset Management has terminated Verizon’s lease on the Exit 59 location.
Verizon has pushed back on that, but DCAM has remained firm. The town may decide to complete the permitting process given the apparent dispute. However, with or without a town permit, Verizon has no right to construct the tower or to be on the property at all as far as the state is concerned.
I have agreed to meet Verizon next week towards the end of understanding the service problems that they are trying to solve and what alternatives they might have. However, I cannot imagine DCAM backtracking on its termination of the lease at this stage, and would in no circumstances support such a move.
Please see the attached correpondence in which the state’s position is very clear.
