This from the Butler School PTA:
On Friday, November 7th, students at Daniel Butler Elementary School are going to exercise for their own cause by participating in a one-mile Fun Run. It’s going to be a great event, bringing members of our community together to promote health and fitness while raising money for our school.
Butler students have been busy collecting online pledges from family members, friends, and neighbors. Our goal is to raise $10,000. Money raised from the Fun Run will go towards funding field trips, in-school enrichment, library books, teacher supplies, and professional development for the staff at Butler.
The run will take place during the school day on November 7th on school grounds. Family and friends are encouraged to attend, to run with students and cheer them on. Ted Trodden, the school’s physical education teacher, will set up the course and will be leading the event. Every child will get a pedometer to track the number of steps they take. Students from K through grade 4 will each run a mile, or 2500 steps. And if the school reaches its goal of raising $10,000 by midnight on November 6th, Principal McAllister has promised to run with the kids wearing a superhero costume!
