New Senate Chair of the Judiciary Committee

Senate President Murray announced today that she has appointed me Senate Chair of the Joint Committee on the Judiciary.

I very much look forward to serving in this role — it will allow me to add additional value on a number of issues that have long been important to me and to my constituents.

I will serve as acting co-chair of the Public Service Committee until a replacement is designated.

Senate President Murray to Appoint Brownsberger
As Senate Chair of Judiciary Committee

BOSTON – Senate President Therese Murray (D-Plymouth) announced on Thursday that she has appointed Senator William Brownsberger (D-Belmont) as the new Senate Chair of the Joint Committee on the Judiciary.

“Senator Brownsberger is a deliberative and thoughtful leader in the Senate and has a strong work ethic,” Murray said. “I am confident that he will continue to do great work in this new position as Senate Chair of the Joint Committee on the Judiciary.”

Brownsberger currently serves as the Senate Chair of the Joint Committee on Public Service and as Vice Chair of the Joint Committee on Election Laws. In addition to serving on the Joint Committee on the Judiciary, he is also a member of the Joint Committee on Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture and the Joint Committee on Municipalities and Regional Government. He represents the Second Suffolk and Middlesex District. Prior to joining the Senate in 2012, he served in the House of Representatives as the State Representative for the 24th Middlesex District.
