Holidays and Freedoms

The recent hate crimes in Belmont, Winthrop, and Brighton, so close to home and so near the fourth of July, have me thinking about the meaning of our national holidays.

In Memory of Carl Nordyke Brownsberger

The main arc of my father’s life was simple. He admired his parents and followed in their footsteps. He became a doctor so he could care for people. He was devoted to my mother and our family.

MA Film Tax Credit

Over the past 90 days, more constituents have contacted me about the film tax credit than about any other issue. The credit will sunset next year if we do not vote to extend it or make it permanent. Some kind of change is likely to be made as part of the state budget bill that is currently under debate.

The Nuclear Option

Within the next few decades, we can hope that next generation nuclear power plants will become an increasingly important source of safe, clean and reliable electric power. However, from a state policy perspective, our practical focus has to be on other forms of clean power.
