If the 2012 ballot questions for physician assisted suicide and medical marijuana fail, do you think there’s a chance that the legislature will act on those topics?

Probably not. The legislature would take the failure of these referenda as an indication that the public would prefer no action.
That’s too bad. I don’t like ballot initiatives much because it’s all or nothing. In the legislature, there can be more discussion, compromise and amendment.
For example, medical marijuana makes sense, but why don’t they just do it through pharmacies if there are problems with standalone centers?
