S208, An Act relative to dropout prevention and recovery

Senator Brownsberger submitted the following written testimony to the Joint Committee on Education.

TO:                  Joint Committee on Education

FROM:            Senator William N. Brownsberger

RE:                  House Bill 525 and Senate Bill 208

DATE:            October 4, 2013

I am writing in favor of H525, An Act enhancing the educational outcomes of expectant and parenting students and S208, An Act relative to dropout prevention and recovery.

If enacted, H525 would provide much-needed supports to expectant and parenting students, including establishing a liaison to serve them in districts with high percentages of parenting students. S208 would strengthen systems for identifying students at risk of dropping out and would institute the necessary supports to keep them in school.

I hope the Committee will report these bills favorably.

View testimony.
