I’m writing to you to urge that you weigh in with the Patrick administration and let them know how you feel about saving the Belmont Uplands.
As State Representative, I have been following through on state action priorities developed by the Arlington-Belmont-Cambridge Stormwater Flooding Board, on which I previously served.
The Joint Committee on Bonding, Capital Expenditures and State Assets gave our bill to acquire the Belmont Uplands a hearing yesterday and the hearing accomplished our initial goal: to make the proposal visible on the radar screen of capital planners in the legislature.
Years of inadequate maintenance funding have degraded state owned public housing, and the physical conditions are notably worse in state funded housing than in federal, private-subsidized or locally-funded housing.
I write to share a wonderful moment in the long march of human wisdom and to thank you again for electing me to play a part in it.
