I agree with those who are fearful of a vacancy while Universal Health Care is on the table. We need an Interim person who will be able to voice the continuation of the universal policy proposal. Let’s minimize the risk. Ellen Mass

I posted something elsewhere with more detail. The only thing I disagree with, which I left out of that post, is the provision requiring the appointee to not run after the term is up. If the appointee turns out to be pretty good, it’s to our disadvantage to lose him/her. Also, any talented person who thinks he has a good shot at running and winning will be unlikely to accept an appointment if offered.
My sense is we should trust the electoral process to do what it is supposed to do at the end of the term.
