My own best guess as of March 22 is that we should be moving right now to a “shelter-in-place” order to give the health care system more time to prepare. A 2 to 4 week shelter-in-place order might give our health care system the time to muster needed supplies and we could make further decisions based on conditions after that. For those over 70 or otherwise at higher risk, it seems likely that a shelter-in-place should remain in effect for a sustained period.

For those who need it, unemployment insurance can be accessed online here. There has been a big push to accelerate the turnaround on unemployment claims. It should be close to a week total elapsed time from claim to first check.
