The proposed about face on a law that was just rejected a few years ago, no matter how self serving the Romney agenda may have been then or how worthy the cause on health care may be now, reminds me of our forefathers’ aim to create a government of laws, not of men. If laws like this can be changed so easily to suit the majority party’s position on a particular political issue, don’t we veer toward a government of men (and women) constantly changing laws? Sure, substantive laws should be subject to review and change over time, but why should basic procedural rules of government be so easy to reverse? Doesn’t that just add to the constant, petty, tit for tat divisiveness in Congress that turns us all off so much?

Got it, Michael. You’ve expressed my reservations very well. I hope that this vote works out for the best. The next few months will be interesting to watch!
