Last Thursday, March 27, 2014 the Turnpike Air Rights Parcels 12 – 15 Citizen’s Advisory Committee (CAC) met to discuss the future of Parcel 13. A feasibility study for Parcel 13 was presented by MassDOT and the MBTA to highlight the unique challenges of the site for the community and potential developers.
There will be a single air rights/MBTA station improvement Request for Proposal (RFP) process. The MBTA has proposed that the Mass Ave entrance to Hynes Station be moved to the south, opening up more retail space on the first floor of 360 Newbury Street. The Boylston Street entrance will be reopened at street level and be fully accessible.
An RFP for the site will be issued in April 2014 and all proposals will be due in August. Bidders will have access to the feasibility study to guide their proposals but they are not bound by any of the options presented in the feasibility study. Proposals will be reviewed in August and September. Another meeting of the CAC will be called in the fall to present some of the proposals from the RFP to the CAC and the community.
