Health Care Benefit Cost Control — Recommendations Released

The final report of the OPEB commission came out last week. The report maps out $10 to $20 billion in savings.

I observed many of the sessions of the commission and was impressed by the quality of analysis that the Governor’s team brought to the table. I feel that all members of the Commission approached their work seriously and responsibly and that the recommendations are well-considered.

I look forward to working to pass substantially legislation along the lines that they recommend. The difficult issues will be around transition rules for existing employees.
