We had a community meeting in Watertown on February 7 about gun violence and many issues were discussed. Congratulations to Richard Marcus for assembling another well-done program. Watertown Police Chief Deveau explained gun licensing procedures and provided statistics on gun ownership in Watertown. Representative Jon Hecht gave a thoughtful overview of Massachusetts gun laws. I made a presentation on federal gun laws.
As promised at the meeting, I’ve posted online the presentation that I made on federal gun laws. Additionally, there was a question about what share of guns are acquired from private sellers. I’ve posted the source of the 40% estimate in a new forum topic and welcome input on that number.
